Senior Electrical Design Engineer

My client, a well-known Electrical Contractor with a national presence in Australia are looking to appoint a new Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Melbourne team.

After a number of successful tender wins for major builders across the commercial construction, data centre, infrastructure and healthcare sectors, 2026 is looking very busy for the company and as such the design team needs to grow.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar level position working on high value packages of work in the commercial construction world, be that with a consultant or contracting background.

General Duties will include:

• Produce concept and detailed designs in line with client requirements
• Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
• Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;
• Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning stages
• If required, act as the electrical engineering lead.
• Outline project requirements, assign tasks and supervise progress
• Complete concept reviews and undertaking detailed designs
• Take a role in coaching & mentoring junior members of the team when required
• Lead the delivery of electrical design components of large-scale projects from inception to completion
• Utilise your problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions
• Work with clients across the country, as well as on major national defence projects
