An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Specialist Radiographer in Interventional Radiology to join one of Ireland’s largest and most advanced radiology departments.

This highly regarded service delivers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures, supported by a multidisciplinary team of consultant radiologists, radiographers, nurses and specialist support staff. The department is recognised for its commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, patient-centred care, education and research. It offers a full spectrum of imaging services including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, fluoroscopy, PET/CT, general radiography and a busy Interventional Radiology service.

The radiology team works with state-of-the-art imaging technology and advanced image-guided intervention systems, supporting a broad range of specialties including oncology, vascular medicine, orthopaedics, cardiology, gastroenterology and complex surgical services. The department is also closely linked with academic and teaching programmes, providing opportunities for professional development, research and specialist practice.


The Opportunity

As Clinical Specialist Radiographer – Interventional Radiology, you will provide clinical leadership within a busy and expanding service, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient care while driving service development and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operation of the Interventional Radiology service.

  • Acting as the clinical expert resource for radiographers, radiologists, nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues.

  • Supporting the implementation of best practice, quality assurance and radiation protection standards.

  • Participating in service planning, policy development and departmental improvement initiatives.

  • Mentoring, supervising and developing radiography staff and students.

  • Contributing to equipment evaluation, service expansion and operational planning.

  • Supporting a culture of excellence, patient safety and continuous professional development.

  • Participating in the department's on-call service and maintaining competency across broader imaging services.


About the Interventional Radiology Service

The Interventional Radiology department provides a wide range of minimally invasive image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Using advanced imaging technologies, many conditions that previously required surgery can now be treated through less invasive techniques, offering patients reduced recovery times, lower complication rates and improved outcomes. The service is supported by modern angiography systems designed to deliver exceptional image quality while minimising radiation exposure.


Essential Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A recognised qualification in Diagnostic Radiography.

  • Current CORU registration.

  • A minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience.

  • Significant experience within Interventional Radiology.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • A proven commitment to quality improvement and professional development.
